BOOK REPORT The book "The English patient" is a story told from an objective point of view.
The time is time after the Second World War, in a house in Italy.
The house used to be a convent, but when the battle came nearer to that area, the convent became a hospital for the injured soldiers.
The describe of the characters:
Hanna- A 20 years old nurse.
She grew up in Canada, and at the age of 18 she studied nursing and started moving towards inner Italy, while helping soldiers. The way they were injured and depended on her, and sometimes even died in her arms did not get through to her, because she blocked those feelings out.
Caaravajo – An old fiend of Hanna’s father, He used to be a thief, and has a lot of funny stories. While he was trying to steal something once, he wascaught and his thumbs were cut off in a very painful way. He is secretly in love with Hanna.
Kipp- he is a sapper, who was sent from Britain to find mines in the         different fields of war in Europe. He lives in a tent in the yard of the convent, and has a different kind of relationship with Hanna.   The English patient- although the book is named after him, he has a very little role in the story.
He is a pilot, whose plane crashed in the middle of the desert. A tribe that found him robbed him, but only after they used his knowledge of weapons.
He arrives in the hospital towards the end of the war in that area, when the hospital is about to pack up and leave. Hanna decides to stay with him, and he tells her all about his life and the things he learned in the desert.
