                                                                                                                                                                                                                              מטרת התפעול היא "לתכנן את המערכת ולתפעל אותה כך,שהיא תשרת ביעילות את                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   המטרות שלשמן היא הוקמה" (שלמה גלוברזון/ניהול התפעול והיצור,1980).או The structure of operating system influences operations decision"(Wild,2002) '                               ארגונים הבינו כיום שניהול נכון ופיקוח על תפעול ופקוח על מערכת האספקה יוביל                                    ל"שימון" החוליות בשרשרת ,העלאת הרווחיות ומיצוב בשוק המתחרים.                                                 תפעול נכון ויעיל יתרום להורדת העלות הכוללת של המוצר,לעמידה בלוח זמנים                                         לאספקה ללקוח,לאיכות המוצר וגם לשיפור המוצר ע"י נהול נכון של הרכש, היצור,                                    איחסון,אריזה,הפצה ותובלה ובסה"כ במילוי רצון הלקוח הכולל גם פיתוח המוצר,.
 ניתוח השוק,מימון ההפצה ושירות לקוחות ותואם את האסטרטגיה הכללית בארגון.                                נהול החומרים כולל בתוכו גם שימוש במערכות מידע מתואמות בכל המחלקות שמאפשר תגובה יעילה לסביבה דינאמית וכן בחירת ספקים אשר ערים לדרישות שלנו מהם מאיכות המוצרים אותם הם מספקים.
בעבודה זו נבחנו מספר מודלים לניהול מלאי לצורך התאמתם לחברת פקטורי,נהול החומרים , הקשר בין הפירמה לספקים, יחסי הגומלין בין המכירות והרכש, וכן תפיסת ויישום תקן ISO9000-2000  בארגון.
לאחר נתוח חברת פקטורי כיום ,על חברת פקטורי לבצע את  השינויים ההכרחיים הנ"ל כדי לשרוד לאורך זמן ולשמר את היתרון העכשווי שלה,למרות העלויות הרבות שהדבר כרוך בו.
