תקציר העבודה
This paper examines the effect of the animacy factor on the Hebrew speaker when he needs to choose between nifaal and hitpael. There might be an effect and maybe not, this is the main goal of this paper.
The research question that leads this paper is 'when will the speaker choose Hitpael and when will he choose nifaal? '
My hypothesis is that the speaker will choose hitpael when the subject of the sentence is an animate subject and he will choose nifaal when the subject will be non-animate.
In a language in which there is more than one way to modify a verb, how will a speaker of that language would choose the most suitable variation of that verb? What are the causes that can affect one's choice?
In this paper I would suggest a cause of animacy as a parameter that can make a change in the speaker's opinion, consciously and unconsciously, which means that it can be an automatic choice, something he got used to without thinking about it.
In the Hebrew language a verb can be modified with the 'Binyamin system".
