Labor’s capital, a contradictory phenomenon in the US, can in many ways serve the interests of labor. Labor shareholder activism originates in the pension funds (where workers put most of their money for retirement) and worker unions that help companies to treat their workers better (through making a lobby in Congress, representing women and minorities on boards, and raising shareholder proposals on boards regarding employees’ rights like wages and benefits).
